Finally some good news about the Xbox One after the disaster that was the reveal and then all the small details that leaked afterwards.
Unlike Sony and Nintendo who are smart enough to let independent creators make and sell their games on their respective networks, Microsoft decided to go against such a policy and won't allow you to publish your creations on Xbox marketplace.
But, Don Mattrick, the main man when it comes to Xbox (he's Microsoft's head of interactive entertainment) recently confirmed in an interview that there will be some kind of a program for developers.
"We're going to have an independent creator program, we're going to sponsor it. We're going to give people tools. We're going to give more information.'' is what he said about it.
Now personally, I still don't think this is such good news. Simply because he says ''we're going to sponsor it. We're going to give people tools'' which, knowing Microsoft, seems like some kind of control scheme over small time independent developers. They did a similar thing with three of biggest ''independent'' titles on Xbox 360 Braid, Limbo and Castle Crashers, which were all published by Microsoft therefore taking a bigger cut from developers.
Of course Sony and Nintendo require certain quality standards to be met, but that's reasonable considering they want to make sue your software is designed properly for their console but at least they don't seem to want to control you entirely yet.
