Top 10 On Current-Gen: Mass Effect

So, the last two on this list were both Microsoft's games and as such they were Xbox 360 exclusives. Now let's go back to normal games again that everyone can play without having to buy a specific console. So, it's time for number 7 on my list of 10 games that you must play on current gen before you move on to the next one. Without further delay, number 7 is... Mass Effect series.

This game made by Bioware and published by... oh shit.. Microsoft Game Studios again. Well, I've got to hand it to them, they did release some great games on their label. Back to the game, Mass Effect is a trilogy that focuses on the adventures of Commander Shepard. As the game allows for customization, Commander Shepard can be either a male or a female. You choose.

The first game in the series was released back in 2007 though it doesn't really feel like it's been full five years already. The game is sort of a mix between a first-person shooter and a classic RPG such as The Elder Scrolls series. In fact, many have called Mass Effect games The Elder Scrolls in space and with laser guns instead of swords and magic. Similar to TES series, you have multiple choice dialogues in every ME game and a lot of story depends on your choices so choose carefully, or if you plan to replay it, then choose whatever and see how the story unfolds each time.

Aside from the main story, you get a lot of opportunities to just sit back and relax, got to a space club, dance, get drunk and flirt with controversial and beautiful rendered girls.

And when you get back to the story, you will be greeted by a really good story that spans over all three games with great character development. So after you've played all three you really feel attached to Shepard and you don't want to let go of it. Now I don't want to spoil any details here so I'll let you play for yourselves and discover this great story. I will only say that the original trilogy is a complete story of Commander Shepard and the rumored fourth game will feature a new character. So that's one more reason to go back and play this trilogy.

On the gameplay side, as I already mentioned it's a mix of third-person shooting and RPG elements. While in combat, you can lead a squad of two soldiers that you usually meet during the game and they come with you. And your targets will be all kinds of alien bastards, from normal soldiers, to mechs, to huge battleships that are literally over a mile long. Now that's true to life stuff.

There you have it, truly great trilogy that deserves to be played before it's too late. Go and check it out.

And don't forget to party...
